Twitter is the second largest social media platform out there, second only to Facebook. It’s not only a great platform for socializing, but it can also be used effectively for marketing and brand enhancement as well. From small business owners to big multinational corporations, using Twitter can be a great way to connect with fans and followers and market products at the same time. If you own a small business, but don’t know how to use Twitter to help grow your brand, here are a few tips that will get you started.

Hashtags

Ever since their creation, it seems like we just can’t get away from hashtags. But while hashtags are somewhat of a novelty for the average user, they can be used to advertise your products as well. Most brands are using hashtags to promote their products, their sales, or just themselves. Using hashtags like this not only highlights the whole text and immediately brings the reader’s attention to it, but it also is a way for people to find others who are talking about the same thing or search for specific terms. Hashtags are a great way to promote a product and communicate with fans.

Announcements

Use Twitter to make announcements about your new products or services. Include pictures or videos to enhance your tweet and of course, don’t forget to use hashtags. If you are looking forward to announcing new deals, first prepare the readers by simply tweeting that new deals are coming soon. This will create curiosity among the people and will definitely make them revisit your tweets to see what the new deals are. Keep in mind though that since Twitter works in chronological order that you should be tweeting the same or similar tweets at different points throughout the day to ensure maximum visibility. People often don’t go backwards through their Twitter feeds, so if they missed you announcement earlier, it’s likely that they won’t know anything about it unless you keep tweeting it.

Visual Tweets

When you start advertising on Twitter, try to make your tweets as visual and colourful as possible. Tweeting an image or a video will generate more interest than a simple text tweet. It’s human nature that people respond more towards visual images than they respond towards simple text messages. Try to make your tweets as trendy, colorful, and interesting as possible. This will bring it more towards readers’ attention and your ad campaign will be more successful.

There are plenty more ways to advertise your product or service on Twitter, but these three will be sufficient to generate more interest and help you get started.
