5 SEO Tips for Bloggers

Personally, I used to find blogging to be quite difficult and frustrating, and for many people, the experience is the same. It takes a lot of time, energy, and consideration to maintain a blog, and without the proper guidance it can be an exercise in futility. On the other hand, there are people out there with the opposite experience. For example, I have a friend who has been blogging for many years and who finds it quite easy to create and share content on a regular basis.

He finds great peace in writing a blog because his readers take interest in what he has to offer. Recently, he shared some of his tips with me that have made blogging easy for me too. He told me that in order to be a more successful blogger I needed to follow these 5 SEO tips, which I’m happy to share with you as well.

Use Guest Posts

If you want your blog to continue to grow, then you should start using guest posts. You won’t always be able to update your blog or create new content, so if you don’t use guest posts then you could start to lose readers. Nobody reads a blog that’s not updated constantly, so you need to ensure that you have a steady stream of content even if that means having somebody else write it.

Use Social Media As A Tool

Chances are you have a good amount of friends on Facebook, and if you do you should use it to your advantage. Share your blog posts on Facebook and ask your friends to do the same. This will help get your content in front of new readers and bring in more traffic which is always good for a blog. Don’t limit yourself to Facebook only though—use as many social media sites as you can, especially Twitter and Google+.

Keep An Eye Out for Comments

Comments are extremely important for every blog, but if they’re irrelevant they might damage your search ranking. So make sure to keep an eye out for comments and moderate what’s being posted to your blog so irrelevant comments don’t hurt your search ranking.

Participate In Forums

Participation in forums can generate a good amount of traffic for your site, and help create quality links as well. Search for forums that focus on topics that are relevant to your blog and participate in existing discussions. Be sure to share links to your blog and encourage interested users to visit and interact with your site.

Keep Your URL Short

Short URLs help place your blog higher on search lists and generates more traffic by improving visibility. By keeping your URL short you make it easier for search crawlers to analyze and determine the relevance of your blog to your key terms, helping push it up the search rankings.
