In a recent interview from ad:tech San Francisco, Alexander Voss from Smaato chats with TheMail about Smaato’s real time bidding platform and how the company can help publishers connect with and sell inventory to interested advertisers. In the interview, Alexander tells us that Smaato is a truly international company with offices in Hamburg, Singapore, and is headquartered in San Francisco, giving its clients the ability to buy publisher inventory from around the world.

These are some key takeaways from the video:

  • Smaato is a mobile RTB ad exchange platform, as well as a supply side platform that helps connect publishers looking to monetize their inventory with demand partners from around the world. Smaato currently has over 76,000 publishers on board and over 240 demand partners that are looking to buy mobile ad inventory.
  • Smaato is a mobile only platform whose main focus is on real time bidding. Their main objective is to help advertisers buy inventory from publishers in real time and operates somewhat similar to a real-time auction. However, Smaato is interesting in that the winning bidder for the inventory only pays the second highest bid price, which they call the “second auction model.”
