Regularly updating content is extremely important for the success of your online business. In fact, unless your brand is very popular, content writing is the only weapon with which you can draw traffic.

Ads get you a chance to capitalize on your web presence and traffic. Advertisements may be of various types ranging from plain text ads to complicated rich media ads. So, what exactly does good content mean and how do you place your ads to get maximum return on investment? This post will get you the answer to this question, so that you can enjoy your share of online success.

Here are a few instructions for you:

1. Define your goals and align your content accordingly.

Not having a clearly defined goal is like driving in pitch darkness without headlights. You may be having great sales of products and affiliates, driving customer acquisition funnel, receiving his email or signing him up for a newsletter, etc., but ultimately aim for nothing and that can be really haphazard. So here are some simple steps for you:

  • The content of your blog should have a clear purpose and it must be communicated to the stakeholders.
  • Your content should be based on keywords that mostly result in conversion and at least one blog should be posted each week. Try to make the write-up as authoritative as possible.
  • Try to produce content that helps you get success online.
  • Create a blog calendar, allot ownership and follow it scrupulously.
  • You should follow your competitor blogs and approach them for guest-posting. Your aim should be to gain more social exposure and become a name that is well-known in your niche. So, relationship-building should be your main focus in the initial stages, followed by blog promotion, commenting, review-writing etc. This way, you will slowly set your ground in the world of blogging.
  • Create your Google Analytics content and analyze it on a regular basis

You firstly need to set up your funnels and goals and then find out which are the keywords that are bringing in the greatest number of traffic to your site. Note that by traffic, we mean organic traffic and not the paid one. Try to find out which keywords are sending traffic to which pages and which are the pages that are sending traffic to convert or order pages, thereby fulfilling your aims. Once you get them, find out more derivative keywords for those particular keywords and develop content with them, and link them to the pages that are sending traffic to your conversion pages, giving your site that extra push. You can also do this externally. Get more and more backlinks with the relevant anchor text to those pages from high authority domains from your niche. However, those should be contextually relevant.

2. Try to find locations that your customers click or flock to.

Just like selling ice cream in Antarctica is not of much use, similarly, in the case of online business, you need to know where your customers are centered and what their profile is; be it forums, social media, groups or popular blogs, you need to find the places and start communicating with them. In the process, you should try to help them out with their business-related issues, creating for yourself a coveted place and getting extended exposure.

Do not start publicizing your products immediately. Instead, begin with building trust and share your products and link promotions. The same is applicable for tracking visitors’ clicks on your site.

3. Give enticing titles to your content.

You may be giving useful and interesting information in your articles and blogs, but it can still go unread because your titles are not striking enough to be clicked on. Hence, a good title is necessary to get clicks. Try to make your titles sensational and thought provoking. So, investing some time on the 60 characters is not a bad deal at all, as it is important for users, search engines, and for your own online success. Here are a few tips on how to frame a good title:

  • Lists always work with readers.
  • Tap into the desires or fears of the users.
  • Try to use keywords at least once in the title.
  • Address a particular issue.
  • Real data, lists and numbers work well with readers.

4. Keep a track of your ads.

Keeping a track of action related elements to know what is giving conversions and business and driving valuable traffic is necessary to see if your marketing strategies are working or not.

Google Analytics can be a great way to find out which links are being clicked and which pages are having maximum bounce rates. Having a tracking mechanism on every element of your website gives you an insight on what is working and what is not.

Content writing and the ads placed on them, which are all geared towards bringing in productivity, can actually be useful tools if used properly. You need to have a clear goal and create your content and ads accordingly to achieve it.
