The performance technology company CAKE announced yesterday that it is launching a new certified agency program that will help connect agencies and consultants with brands, advertisers, and network partners. According to their press release, the software company’s new product is intended to help advertisers “maximize affiliate revenue and reduce costs by combining the tracking technology of CAKE with the affiliate program management of our organization.”
When TheMail talked to Mitch Gordon, CAKE’s VP of Sales and Business Development, he said that the reason that CAKE is launching this new program is because CAKE wants provide a software that supplements the many service-based companies that exist in the online marketing industry.
“We are a software company,” Gordon says, “and we like to think that we’re the best software company in our industry, and we want to continue to focus on software. Obviously there is a services component to affiliate management and performance marketing, but we don’t want to be in the services business; there’s lots and lots of companies out there who do a great job with the services and we feel like we’ve found a lot of them…We think that the best model for this industry is to have us focus on continuing to innovate in the software and let the agencies continue to innovate in the services and partner with the best agencies and go at it together.”
Ultimately, CAKE contends that their technology is the best in the industry, and by joining forces with leading agencies, they are looking to reform the performance marketing structure and provide higher payouts with fewer ad dollars spent.
